Vigabatrin

Is the active ingredient in the medication.

Treatment of complex partial seizures in adults when other anticonvulsants have failed or are not tolerated.

Treatment of infantile spasms (West syndrome) in infants and children.

Viganext 500 Sachets (Vigabatrin) works by increasing the levels of a neurotransmitter called GABA in the brain. GABA has calming effects and helps control seizures.

Store at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage is determined by your doctor and depends on your age, weight, and medical condition.

It is usually taken by mouth, once or twice a day with or without food.

Do not stop taking Vigabatrin abruptly, as this can lead to seizures.

Vision problems (including loss of vision)

Weight gain

Depression

Anxiety

Irritability

Psychosis

Skin rash

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol may increase the risk of side effects from Vigabatrin. Avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Vigabatrin can cause drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Vigabatrin can harm an unborn baby. Use effective birth control while taking this medication. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding mothers. Discuss this with your doctor.



Children

Vigabatrin is not recommended for children with a history of certain types of seizures. Discuss this with your doctor.



Kidney

Vigabatrin is excreted by the kidneys. It may need to be adjusted in patients with kidney problems. Discuss this with your doctor.



Liver

Vigabatrin can affect liver function. Discuss this with your doctor.
