Glimepiride

This is the active ingredient, a sulfonylurea drug that helps lower blood sugar levels.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus: Used in conjunction with diet and exercise to control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes who do not have adequate control with diet and exercise alone.

Often used in combination with other diabetes medications: May be prescribed alongside metformin or other drugs to improve blood glucose control.

Semi Amaryl Tab (Glimepiride) stimulates the release of insulin from the beta cells in the pancreas. It also increases the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin, allowing glucose to be better utilized by the body. This leads to a reduction in blood glucose levels.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.

Dosage is determined by your doctor and is individualized based on your blood sugar levels and response to treatment.

Typically taken once daily with breakfast.

Do not crush or chew the tablets.

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully regarding dosage and timing.

Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes): This is rare but serious.

Blood disorders: These are uncommon but can occur.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms include sweating, trembling, dizziness, confusion, and weakness.

Gastrointestinal upset: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain.

Allergic reactions: Skin rash, itching, hives.

Weight gain.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Limit alcohol intake while taking glimepiride and always consult your physician.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Hypoglycemia can impair judgment and coordination. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience symptoms of low blood sugar.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Glimepiride is generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.



Children

Glimepiride is not typically used for children.



Kidney

Kidney function should be monitored as the kidneys play a role in drug elimination. Dosage may need adjustment in patients with kidney impairment.



Liver

Liver function should be monitored. Glimepiride may need dose adjustment in patients with liver impairment.
