Gutcoat Syp 170ml (Sucralfate) works by forming a protective barrier over ulcers in the stomach and duodenum. This barrier protects the ulcer from further damage by acid and pepsin. It also stimulates the production of prostaglandins, which help to promote healing.

Store at room temperature (68-77°F or 20-25°C). Protect from moisture.

Follow your doctor's instructions exactly.

Dosage varies depending on the condition being treated and the patient's age and health.

Typically taken 1 hour before meals and at bedtime.

Dark or black stools (may indicate digested blood from ulcer healing)

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol may irritate the stomach lining and interfere with ulcer healing. Limit alcohol consumption while taking sucralfate.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Sucralfate generally does not impair alertness or cognitive function, but dizziness is a possible side effect. Use caution until you know how the medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Consult your doctor before taking sucralfate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. While studies haven't shown significant harm, the benefits and risks should be weighed carefully.



Children

Dosage and use in children should be determined by a pediatrician.



Kidney

Patients with severe kidney disease should consult their physician before using sucralfate. Sucralfate contains aluminum which can accumulate in those with compromised kidney function.



Liver

Liver impairment typically does not necessitate dosage adjustment for sucralfate.
