Prasugrel is the active ingredient in the medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called thienopyridines.Prasugrel works by inhibiting platelet aggregation, which is the clumping together of platelets.
Prasugrel is indicated for the prevention of atherothrombotic events in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Efiplat 10mg Tab (Prasugrel) is a potent and irreversible inhibitor of platelet aggregation. It blocks the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its receptor on platelets, preventing the activation of the platelet aggregation pathway. This effect helps to reduce the risk of blood clots forming in the arteries.
Store prasugrel at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Keep it away from moisture and heat. Protect from light.
The usual starting dose of prasugrel is 10 mg once daily. For patients with body weight less than 60 kg, the starting dose is 5 mg once daily.
Prasugrel is typically taken orally with or without food.
Do not crush, break, or chew the tablets. Swallow them whole with water.
The most common side effects of prasugrel include: bleeding (including gastrointestinal bleeding), bruising, and headache.
Serious side effects can occur, including: stroke, heart attack, and death.
Avoid alcohol consumption while taking prasugrel, as it can increase the risk of bleeding.
Prasugrel may cause dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
Prasugrel is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
